Johannes van Nelle began selling coffee, tea and tobacco in Rotterdam in the year 1782 in Rotterdam. In 1962, the company introduced the first vacuum freshly ground coffee. Van Nelle’s company was taken over in 1989 by Sara Lee / Douwe Egberts. You can still buy the vacuum freshly ground coffee today.
